William "Bill" or "Butch" Anderson Obituary

William "Bill"  or "Butch" Albert Anderson, age 80, of Calabash, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center, Wilmington, NC following a period of declining health.
Bill was born in North Braddock, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1946, and graduated from Scott High School in North Braddock in 1965. He was the oldest of four children born to the late William Wilson and Lillian Kramer Anderson.
Bill was a proud US Army Vietnam veteran and served with the 25th infantry division 3/4 CAV B troop. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal with V Device for his heroic actions in direct combat.
In 2008 after 42 years of service, Bill retired from Mine Safety Appliances Company, Safety Products Division located in Cranberry Township, PA. At the time of his retirement he was a Prototype Processing Technician.
Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Kathryn Davis-Anderson; a son, Thimothy W. Anderson; two daughters, Jennie Kay Anderson Anders and husband Chris; Jeneane Collins and husband Troy; a son-in-law, Kenneth Faytik; a sister, Amelia Heddinger; along with ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and his devoted military “Brothers in Arms”.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Peggy Barnett and Barry Barnett; Christine Anker and David Anker; a brother-in-law, John Heddinger, and a daughter, Kerri Faytik.
A Catholic blessing service will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at a time designated by the church and the family.
A celebration of life service will be conducted for his 3/4 Cav B troop brothers and spouses and immediate family on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 4:00 PM, in the Shepherd Assembly Church, 6720 Old Shallotte Road, Ocean Isle Beach, NC with military honors. Bill will be buried at Florence National Cemetery Annex.
On a date yet to be determined, an additional celebration of life will be held this summer in Cranberry Twp, PA for family and friends.
