William "Bill" White Obituary

US Army Retired, SFC, William Samuel White, 76, of Supply, NC passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, following a time of declining health.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 16, 1949, Bill was one of five children of the late Alan Milton and Rita Sims White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Alan W. White, Claude A. White, Lillian R. Eckels, and a step-son, Linwood Jerry Robinson, Jr.

Bill graduated from Lyman Hall High School, Wallingford, Ct. Following high school, he began a long and successful career in the US Army. He enlisted in the Army and served honorably in Viet Nam, Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. During his time in the military, he served in the US Army National Guard, Connecticut, Civil Air Patrol, The Army Reserves, just to name a few. He loved his country and served distinctly & received many awards and commendations in that endeavor. Following his military retirement, he worked at the Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal, (MOTSU) for several years.

Bill's passions outside of the military include his love of Big trains. This passion led him to travel to many states with the Big Train Operators Club in which he was a member, where he enjoyed riding trains, making friends and collecting many "big" model trains. His love of trains occurred at a very young age as he grew up beside a railroad track in which he could watch and hear the trains go by. He so loved to hear the sounds of an oncoming train. He was also a member of the Cape Fear Model Railroad Club in Wilmington, N.C. This is where he loved to go weekly and set up trains for all to see and enjoy, especially during the holidays. He loved to see the children watch all the trains with such joy and excitement. Bill inherited many friends from the club and from the public.

Bill's greatest love was for The Lord, God Father as he would call Him. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized. This led him to be a member of New Vision PFWB Church, Shallotte, N.C.

Bill loved his family and friends dearly. He would always tell each one his famous saying, "I love you and you can't do anything about it." He also extended that phrase to everyone who crossed his path. In that he was sharing the love of God. He will be truly missed.

Bill is survived by his adoring wife, Belva Dee Rabon White; a stepdaughter, Lara R. Milligan; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” W. Martin; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in the Supply Baptist Church, with Reverend Ricky Hewett and Pastor Tuddie Dixon officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, at the church.
