William Wayne Booth, age 98, of Arbor Landing of Ocean Isle passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care, “Brunswick House” following a time of declining health.
Wayne was born in Upshur County, West Virginia on May 13, 1926, and was a son of the late Homer O. and Lelia Davis Booth. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife of seventy-two years, Mildred “Jo” Maxine Booth; a brother, Paul Booth and his wife Juanita, a sister-in-law, Betty Booth, and other brothers and sisters-in-laws.
He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was a thirty-five-year member of the Little River United Methodist Church. Wayne served in the US Navy during WW II. He worked for Columbia Gas of NY (Binghamton) for 38 years.
Wayne and Jo enjoyed traveling and spent many years traveling extensively with their Airstream across America. They enjoyed many summers at the St. Lawrence River and many winters in Texas with their grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Young and husband Dwayne of Trinity, TX, Lisa King of Calabash, NC; grandchildren, Jill Hogue, Randi Vickers and husband Adrian, Buck Hogue and wife Renee, Brett Hogue and wife Rachelle; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard “Dick” Booth; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Ours and a brother-in-law, Jim Wilfong and wife Fran; along with many nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at Arbor Landing and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for care given to Wayne.
