Thomas “Tod” F. O’Donnell, 85, of Southport, NC passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, “Brunswick House” following a time of declining health.
Tod as he was affectionately known, was born in New York, NY on March 30, 1940, and was a son of the late Thomas and Marie T Craven O’Donnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas John “TJ” O’Donnell and a brother, Jay O’Donnell.
Tod was a exceptional athlete and was very proud of his earning a spot and playing as a defensive end at Notre Dame Football Team as well as being a East Coast Racquetball Champion. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Southport, NC, and before retirement, was owner and operator of the East Coast Moving Company of Ridgefield, CT, for over 40 years.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Ann Miles O’Donnell; a son, Tyler M. O’Donnell, daughter-in-law, Isla Mary O’Donnell; grandchildren, Mackenzie Miles O’Donnell and Liam Ford O’Donnell; and his sister, Mary Gwen Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, on Friday, June 13, 2025, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a reception to follow.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many trips to give assistance to Tod from the Brunswick County EMS and the Southport Fire Department.
