Thomas Dale Hovermale

Thomas Dale “Tommy” Hovermale, 79, of Calabash, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, Bolivia, NC following a lengthy illness.

Tommy was born in Baltimore, MD, on October 7, 1945, and was the last of seven children born to the late Perry C. and Dorothy Largent Hovermale. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his siblings, Freda Meyerhoffer, Marguerite Henn, Jean Hettenhouser, Phyllis Harvath, Harry Hovermale and Lloyd E. Hovermale.  

Tommy was a Certified Public Accountant, avid fisherman and was a member of and sang in the choir of Waterboyz- a Christian organization in Frederick, Maryland, he enjoyed watching his hometown teams, Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens.

Surviving are his loving wife, Maria Del Pilar Porras Hovermale; daughter  Lisa Wheatley and husband Skip; three grandchildren, Zach Wheatley, Sarah Wheatley, Megan Wheatley; and a great grandchild, Oliver, step daughter Sofia Endara, step grandchildren Antonio, Rafael and Luhana Endara. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held in the Breath of Life Church, Calabash, NC, on January 24, 2025 at 3PM.
