Susan Lee (Hughes) Hughes

Susan Lee Hughes of Shallotte, NC stepped quietly from this earth into the arms of Jesus on August 23, 2020.  She leaves behind her beloved friend and life-partner of 27 years, Ramona Hester; her bonus children whom she loved as her own: Donovan Lee Hester (Shannon) and Jennifer Hester Nunnery; grandchildren: Gage, Donnie, Julian, Victoria, Cameron, Olivia, Kaylee, Kinsley and Tristen.  She was no doubt met at the gates of eternity by Randy and Beverly Hester who preceded her in death.

Born in Bladen County to the late Wilma and Peggy Hughes, she is also survived by her brother, Donald Ray Hughes (Becky)of Vanceboro along with their children and grandchildren and her sister, Debra Morgan (Louis) of Linden. 

Susan found great joy sharing her love of Massage Therapy as an educator and Director of several Massage Therapy Programs.  Going above and beyond her job description she developed personal, loving relationships with her students who will remember her as "the one who set us straight but always cared about us".  She brought great joy, in addition to wise counsel, to all those fortunate enough to be in her life.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate a life well lived will be held at a later date.

Susan will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.  Anyone wishing to honor her life are encouraged to make donations to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Brunswick County, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
