Susan Marie (Porter) Horton

Susan Marie Porter Horton, age 67, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC formerly of Logan, WV passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, Bolivia, NC following a brief illness.

Susie was born in Logan, WV on the sixth of January 1955 to the late Nolan Leslie Porter, Sr. and Betty Ruth Lewis Porter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Howard Horton. She was a nurse at the A. R. H. Medical Center, Williamson, KY for 15 years, until her retirement. A friend to animals, a philanthropist,  excellent cook, gifted gardener, are just some of her attributes along with the ability to tastefully refinish and repurpose furniture. She loved the ocean and regularly walked five miles each day admiring its beauty with her soulmate of fifty years, Roger.

Surviving are her loving husband Roger Dale Horton; a daughter, Leslie Nicole LaJeunesse and husband John of Wasilla, AK; three brothers, Nolan Porter, Jr., Phillip Porter and Mark Porter, both of Logan WV, The grandchildren include Jay Dale LaJeunesse, Phaedra Jane Horton and Collin Dale Horton. Susan thought of her in-laws as family. These include Lassie Muncey, Mary Browning and Darrell Horton all from Logan, WV. Extended family include many nieces and nephews who were all loved and welcomed with Susan.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
