Susan Christine “Chris” Angotti, 75, of Shallotte, NC passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 28, 2025 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Chris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend known for her love, intuitive kindness, generosity and service and leaves behind a legacy of many cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Chris was born in Aberdeen, MD on June 16, 1949, the daughter of the late Albert L and Mildred S. Dula Wise. She is the oldest of her parent’s seven children. Chris attended college and lived in Southern California subsequent to her graduation from Aberdeen High School in 1967.
Chris and Tom met in Karamursel Turkey in 1973 where Tom was stationed with the Air Force and Chris was visiting her parents. They were married in February 1974 and settled in Moon Township, Pennsylvania and recently celebrated their 51st Anniversary.
Chris began her professional career in the insurance industry with MetLife but subsequently reinvented her career by starting nursing school at Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1992 at the age of 43. In a testament to her determination and commitment Chris graduated form SVH School of Nursing in June 1994 while raising two daughters and managing household duties. In December 1996 earned her BS degree in Nursing from Carlow College while having attained academic recognition from both schools. She was inducted into Sigma Theta TauInternational Honor Society of Nursing in April 1997. Subsequent to her graduation from Carlow she resumed her insurance career until her retirement from Cigna in 2012 as Director of Training and Continuous Development.
After her retirement Chris devoted much of her time to helping others with her extensive involvement and commitment to various charitable organizations and local programs. These include participation in numerous and various local food, health and scholarship programs and projects, affiliation with the Myrtle Beach March of Dimes, seven years as a Case Manager with the Wilmington Red Cross, and most extensively, with the General Federation of Women’s Club in Shallotte ( GFWC-SBI). Chris was a Past President and named Clubwoman of the Year for 2023 for her exceptional overall service to the Club and her contribution and commitment in community affairs through the GFWC at the local, district and state levels.
Known for her energy and generous spirit, Chris approached every task, every challenge, both professional and personal, with commitment, determination and fairness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generosity, caring spirit, and strong dedication to family and community.
In addition to Tom, she is survived by two loving daughters Erin and Chelsea, Erin’s supportive husband John, and Chris’ cherished grandson Oliver. She is also survived by five sisters, Vivian,Terry, Connie, Julie (Utah), Nanette (Ohio) and a brother Albert (Pennsylvania) and two sisters by marriage , Jean and Cathy of Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed by all.
Chris’ family would like to thank the professional and administrative staffs of Liberty Homecare and Lower Cape Fear Lifecare for their compassion and excellent care provided to Chris over these many months. Also the family offers a sincere, heartfelt and loving Thank You to their local and distant friends and relatives and neighbors and residents of Rivers Edge for the many meals, cards, concern and overall support that they have provided over these many months.

A Celebration in honor of Chris’ special life will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Brunswick Plantation Clubhouse, 380 Brunswick Drive, Calabash, NC 28467.
