Stanley Joesph “Jake” Gornetski, Jr., 89, of Calabash, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Autumn Care of Shallotte following complications from a recent debilitating fall.
Stanley as he was known was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania on February 18, 1936, and was one of three children born to the late Stanley Joseph Gornetski, Sr., and Clara Novak Gornetski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Turley and his beloved girlfriend of 50 years, Regina (Jean) Amrich.
Stanley was a US Army veteran and was a longtime and devoted employee of the Luzerne County Community College.
Surviving are his loving sister, Anne Gornetski; a nephew, Mark Turley and wife Theresa; nieces, Sharin Ochotny and husband Michael, Donna Faix and husband Steve, Lisa Gahman and husband Keith.
In keeping with his wishes, memorial services will be private.
