Sharon Kay (Evans) Hewett

Sharon Kay Hewett, 74, of Ash, NC passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family.

Sharon was one of three children of the late Glenn Curtis and Manie Emily Liton Evans of Saxis , Virginia and was born on June 19, 1949.

Sharon was a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she had served as treasurer and was very active in the church activities including Vacation Bible School. More recently Sharon was a member of United Vision Church and regularly attended until her health made it very difficult, however, her faith continued to sustain her through her illness. Sharon was a lady who gave of herself, not only through church but she spent her working career caring for others as a LPN. She worked for several local doctors as well as being a hospice nurse with Lower Cape Fear Life Care. Sharon also worked for LabCorp, and volunteered with Brunswick Family Assistance. She will always be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, Larry O. Hewett; a son, Larry Dean Hewett and fiancée Hope Sellers of Ash; a daughter, Sandy H. Strickland and husband Mark of Supply, NC; a brother, Curtis Glenn Evans of Sanford, VA; a sister, Francis L. Kelly of Saxis, VA; a granddaughter, Alexandra “Alex” Hewett Milligan and husband Adam of Ash; and three great grandchildren, Zane Hewett, Owen Milligan and Rhett Milligan.

Memorial services, at Sharon’s request, will be private.
