Ruth Peck Murphy, 89, of Calabash, NC and formerly of Butler and
Ortley Beach, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at her
home.
Born in North Arlington, NJ on the twenty-first of August, 1936, Ruth
was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Curran Peck. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved
husband of 65 years, Robert “Bob” Murphy in 2021; and a granddaughter,
Megan Murphy in 1996.
Ruth was a longtime member of St Brendan Catholic Church. She enjoyed
traveling both domestically and internationally and was a frequent
cruiser. Ruth was a lifelong NY Mets fan, enjoyed relaxing at the
Jersey Shore and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her beloved children, Robert Murphy and wife Judith of
Cranford, NJ, Eileen Post and husband Russell of Stockholm, NJ, Diane
Williams and husband Butch Jachimczuk of Fair Bluff, NC, Karen Hughes
and husband Stephen of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Kevin Murphy and wife
Willa Bernstein of NY, NY; grandchildren, Jessie Murphy, Eric Murphy,
Doug Post, Russell Post, Steven Williams, Michele Williams, Honor
Murphy, Anna Braz, and Eva Murphy; and great grandchildren, Joshua
Murphy, Ian Murphy, Gianna Williams, Kylie Williams, Madison Post, and
Brooks Post.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, February 6,
2026 in St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church, Shallotte, NC.
Inurnment will follow in the Church Columbarium. You are cordially
invited to a reception at The Thistle following services.
