Roger Zale Suggs, age 73, of Supply passed away on Wednesday, the twenty seventh of July 2022 following a lengthy illness.
Roger was born in Brunswick County, NC on the twenty-first of September 1948 to the late William Percy and Helen Odell Evans Suggs. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Wayne Suggs and infant-William Harley Suggs.
Roger was a gift to the supply area and devoted much of himself to the community. He was a founding member of the Supply Volunteer Fire Department and served as it’s chief for seventeen years. He served in many capacities as captain through the years and remained active up until 1999. Roger was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also an owner/operator of an electrical and hardware supply store in Shallotte.
Surviving are his wife, Loren M. Suggs; five children, Rodney Wayne Suggs, Alanna Allen and husband Jason, Lyndsey Daley, Bradley Suggs and wife Kayla, Thomas Daley and wife Nikki; a sister, Myrna S. Bennett and husband Rev. Dr. Foyd Bennett; grandchildren, Samantha Suggs Trent Allen, Bradley Keener, Camren Daley, Braxton Allen, Zach Daley, Kayden Suggs, Jayde Daley, Sahara Braddy, Khloe Suggs, Waylon Suggs, Wynona Suggs; and great grandchildren, Rhetlee Kinlaw and Riley Suggs.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday the first of August 2022 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Copas Road, Shallotte by Bishop Jeffrey Wiegand.
The family will have a time of visitation from one o’clock until two o’clock Monday prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Riley Sellers and Fred Cumbee Cemetery, Supply.
Active pallbearers will be Trent Allen, Bradley Keener, Camren Daley, Braxton Allen, Zachary Daley and Kayden Suggs.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Deevers, Charles Mehalic and John Mehalic.
