Roger Dale Smith

Roger Dale Smith, age 73, of Supply, NC passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, with his family by his side.

Roger was born in Whiteville, NC on the sixth of March 1948 to the late Ernest Garland and Vera Caroline Hughes Smith. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by brothers, Calvin Smith, Monroe Smith; sisters, Virginia Grant, Bobbie Anderson, Dorothy Stanley and Esta Mae Willetts.

He loved his family greatly and will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Roger was a believer in his Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Shell Point Baptist Church and had also attended Soldier Bay Baptist Church. He enjoyed his time spent fishing, clamming, and shrimping in the local creeks. Roger retired from the NC School System as a mechanic and was a US Army veteran where he served his country in Vietnam.  

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Delilah Hewett Smith; sons, Christopher Dale Smith (Paula) of Cadiz, KY, Reverend Mark Smith (April) of Ocean Isle Beach; a daughter, Amy Casselman (Chris) of Supply; brothers, Lennon Smith (Avis), of Ash, Rev. Charlie Smith, (Alice), of Ash, Danny Smith (Janice), of Ash; five sisters, Caldonia Miller (Billy), of Wilmington, Lois Milliken (Terry), of Ash, Elizabeth Phillips (Lester), of Ash, Debbie Norris (William), of Shallotte, Evelyn Carpenter (Tommy), of Supply; grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Kadi Smith, Jared Smith, Cameron Smith, Christian Smith, Hannah Casselman, C.J. Casselman and Hayden Casselman and a host of nieces and nephews.

Roger’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be conducted at four o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in Jennies Branch Baptist Church with the Reverend Landis Lancaster and Reverend Charlie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hewett Cemetery.

A visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
