Robert Eugene “Gene” Carter, Jr., age 70, of Ash, NC and Whitehall, MT passed away on Saturday evening August 12, 2023 at his home with family be his side.
Gene was born in Whiteville, NC on July 25, 1953 and was a son of the late Robert Eugene Carter, Sr. and Jimmy Elizabeth Bright Carter. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry DeLane Carter, James Patrick Carter & William H. “Billy” Carter and a grandson, Robert Ethan “Robbie” Carter.
Gene was a proud US Army veteran having served in the Signal Corps. He was also a charter member of New Beginnings Community Church and had a great faith that sustained him until his move to Heaven. Gene was a devoted family man and adored his wife Julia, their children, especially the grandchildren & great grandchildren. He loved traveling to Montana and building the family a cabin on their property. Gene loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, and fishing.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Julia Jordan Carter; a son, Christopher Lee Carter and wife Traci of Fayetteville, NC; two daughters, Shannon Mankin of Ash, NC, Brittany C. Chadwick and husband Harvey of Ash; two brothers, Tim Carter, Kelly Carter; three sisters-in-law, Neda Carter, Teri Carter and Kim Carter; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren and two very special friends, Perry and Betsy Sellers.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, on Friday, August 18, 2023, in the New Beginnings Community Church with The Reverend Brad Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
