Robert (Bob) Howard Herre

Robert Howard Herre, 91, of Calabash, NC , formerly of Farmingdale, Long Island, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 after a brief illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Bob was a son of the late Edward E. Herre and Anna Bushman Herre. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan "Joanie" Herre, and a sister, Anne Arnold of Hancock, NY.  

He was a proud US Army veteran (1958-1960) and a member of the Calabash American Legion Post # 503.  

Bob was an avid golfer and a diehard bowler. He bowled in 2 leagues at the Little River Bowling Alley and had many special friends there.  

Bob is survived by his three loving daughters and their families; Jean Lorig & Jim Lorig, Patricia Mayne & Bobby Mayne, Marie Simco and Kenny Simco; Granddaughter Victoria (Lorig) Rodenburg & Steven Rodenburg, Grandson Billy Mayne & Taylor Wingo,  Grandson Christian Mayne, Granddaughter Samantha (Simco) Boxer & Joshua Boxer and Grandson Michael Lorig.

A Mass will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the St Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church where he was a longtime member. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM in Brendan Hall prior to the mass. Military honors will be held following the mass by the Calabash American Legion Post 503.
