Robert “Bob” Elma Barker, 88, of Supply, NC passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, “Brunswick House” following a lengthy illness.
Bob was born in Caswell County, NC on May 10, 1937, and was a son of the late William Odell Baynes Barker, Sr. and Ruby Amy Yarbrough Barker. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his daughters, Sue Barker Hartsell (Mitchell), Betty Jean Barker; an infant son, William O. Barker, Jr., a brother, Allen Barker, and two sisters, Ruby Carolina Barker Everett & Esther Gwynn Barker Perkins.
Bob was an amazing fisherman and would make his daily trip to Browns Landing to fish and teach others the proper way to throw a cast net. He has given away countless fish that he caught over the years. He was also a dairy farmer, policeman, and truck driver during his working years.
Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Doris Barker; daughters, Debbie Barker, Wendy Keatts, Tracy Torain (Terry), Sharon Norton (Joseph); a son, Robert Alan Sanders (Donna); a brother, Frank M. Barker; three sisters, Louise Coley, Diane Yarbrough, Phyllis Barker (Van); eleven grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
The family is planning a private gathering of family and friends to be held at a later date.
