Robert Leonard Ezell, Jr., 74, of Winnabow, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, following a time of declining health.
Rob was born in Vance County, NC, and grew up just across the state line in the South Hill, Virginia area. He was one of three sons born to the late Robert, Sr., and Florence Ezell. In addition to his parents, Rob was predeceased by a son, Chris Ezell, a brother, Mike Ezell and a stepson, Tommy Ingram.
Rob’s life was always full of his love for music and he enjoyed a 20+ year career as a radio DJ in both Virginia and North Carolina. After his music career, Rob was an EMT/Paramedic for Guilford County, NC. Thinking he would like to go into nursing, he took classes toward this goal until a professor said he had a natural ability with computers. This piqued another interest, and Rob decided to enter the world of computer security. He retired from Wells Fargo and Hanesbrands.
Surviving are his loving wife of 23 years, Anne Ezell; a daughter, Pansy Flanagan (Greg); step-son, Adam Ingram; a brother, Nicky Ezell (Dawn); nephews, Josh Ezell (Ashley), Jackson Ezell, Brett Ezell (Sam); niece, Maddi Antiporta (Kevin); grandchildren, Luke, Sarah, Bekah, Mandy, Jessi, Haley, Buggy, Justin, Alli, Brianna, Robert, and Connor; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Rob treasured relationships with several dear friends, especially his “chosen brothers”, Ed Litton, Curtis Thurston, and Tommy Russell.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, ACS CAN, PO Box 886, Hagerstown, MD 21741-0886, https://act.fightcancer.org/a/donate-fight-cancer or to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, www.lifecare.org.
