Robert Joseph Frye, 76, of Supply, NC passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, “Brunswick House” following a lengthy illness.
Robert was born in Elwood, Indiana on January 14, 1950 and was a son of the late William and Rosemary Seibold Frye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosi Ann Parker, a brother, John Henry Frye, and his father and mother-in-law, James and Barbara Sagarsee.
Robert graduated from Indiana University. He retired as a Registered Nurse from Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, NC. He found joy in reading, crafting, singing, and playing piano. He also found joy in beating the whole family in cards and board games. Robert took great pride in his yard, giving special attention to the azaleas and yellow roses. When tending to the blueberry bushes, he always said to leave some berries behind for the birds. A great talent in the kitchen, his peanut butter pie is a family favorite. Robert maintained a robust prayer life and felt it important to give to charity. Those who knew Bob best will tell you that his most memorable quality was his quick wit paired with a sarcastic sense of humor. When asked for advice on nearly any topic, he suggested everyone not to worry so much. Following his own advice, he responded to most things with one simple word, “whatever.”
Surviving are his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathy Frye; a son, Mark Frye (Staci); two daughters, Kylee Rose Nelson (Brandon), Kasi Joy Godfrey (Nick); grandsons, Moses Frye, Sage Godfrey; granddaughters, Skylar Frye, Sharlotte Frye; three brothers, Bart Frye (Diane), Ron Frye (Ruth), Ed Frye (Anne); and four sisters, Marsha Chris (John), Linda Frye, Teresa Clemmons (Sam), Barb Deggans; two brothers-in-law, Bradford Sagarsee (Renee), Rod Sagarsee (Tina); a sister-in-law, Felicia Tierney (Warren); several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and friends who are family.
To honor his wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life service.
The family extends a special thank you to the families of Bryan and Jessica Skipper, and Phil and Anna Robinson for their exceptional support during this time.
The family requests with gratitude that in lieu of flowers, memorials to be made in his name to the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County, at PO Box 1460, Hendersonville, NC 28793 or www.bgchendersonco.org.
