Richard "Richie" Joseph Buckley

Richard "Richie" Joseph Buckley, 56, of Calabash, NC and Circleville, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at his home in Calabash. 

Richie was born in Middletown, NY on October 5, 1967, and was a son of John and Valerie Mann Knox. 

Richie was an avid fisherman and loved to fish. He never turned down the chance to venture out on a boat going out to sea or just to fish off a pier for hours at a time.

Richie never met a stranger, and he was always willing to help someone. He would even give up his last dollar or cigarette if anyone asked him.

Richie was a compassionate person, especially with animals. He would often find critters that were hurt and bring them home to tend to them. His best friends were his animals, especially “Ollie”.

Richie was always kind, funny, gentle and quiet all at the same time and always went at his own pace.

Surviving are his parents, John S. and Valerie Mann Knox; a brother, Frank Buckley (Kim), Shallotte, NC; a sister, Debbie Long (Mark) of Whiteville, NC; Nieces & Nephews, Abbigail Buckley, Hayley Buckley, Robert Lucarelli (Nichole), Krysten Healey (Lionel), Sotera Soltysiak (Lennon), Cameron Soltysiak (Aaron), and Jon Tyler Soltysiak; and many great nieces and nephews. 

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date in the Shepherd Assembly Church, 6720 Old Shallotte Road, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.
