Richard Andrew Kocak

Richard (Dick) Andrew Kocak, 79, a resident of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away on October 31, 2025, following a period of declining health. He was born on September 29, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew and Florence (nee Gaydos) Kocak.

Richard graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1964, where he developed a deep respect for Jesuit education. He earned a B.S. in Business Management  from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 1968. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1970 and was stationed in Korea. He then went on to earn his J.D. at the University of Toledo School of Law in Toledo, Ohio. Richard lived in Virginia for the duration of his professional life as a tax attorney for the Internal Revenue Service.  

Richard is survived by his loving nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Barbara Anne Ehrbar (nee Kocak)  and Patricia Mary Green (nee Kocak).  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard’s memory to St. Ignatius High School, in Cleveland, Ohio.
