Renate (Topel) Hord

Renate T. Hord, 84, of Longs, SC passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the McLeod Seacoast Hospital, Little River, SC.

Born in Berlin, Germany on October 29, 1940, Renate was a daughter of her father, the late Alfred Topel. Also preceding Renate are her stepfather, Paul Schultze and mother, Erna Schultze; her husband, James Hord, three sons, Ronald Leonard, Patrick Leonard, and Michael Leonard.

Renate loved to bake and cook German dishes for her family. She also enjoyed knitting blankets for friends and family to enjoy.

Surviving are her sister, Evelyn Alexander and husband Dale; Grandchildren, Michael Leonard and wife Rachel, Tonia Leonard; her great grandchildren, Triston Leonard, Melanie Leonard and Ethan Leonard.

To honor her wishes, a private family gathering honoring her life will be held at a later date.
