Mr. Ralph Leon Hewett, Sr., age 85, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Saturday, the twenty eighth of May 2022 in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, “Brunswick House”.
Born in Rocky Mount, NC on the sixteenth on September 1936, Ralph was a son of the late J. Earl and Edwina Kelly Hewett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce and Marie Hewett.
Ralph was a US Army veteran and a lifelong commercial shrimper. Over the years, his fleet consisted of the “Miss Marie”, the “Jolly Roger”, the “Cap’t Knowledge” and the “Farmers Daughter”.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Gail Hewett; two sons, Ralph L. Hewett, II; Robin Hewett and wife Lorna, two grandchildren, Kelly Hewett, Erin Hewett and a special first cousin, Helen Hewett.
To honor his wishes, funeral services will be private.
