Philomena Rita Cefalo, age 102 of Calabash, NC passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at her home.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 9, 1921, Philomena was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Tommaselli Giannetti. In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmine Cefalo and a sister, Mariana “Mary” Dadak.
She was a devout member of the Catholic faith and was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Palmetto FL and upon coming to North Carolina Philomena attended St Brendan Catholic Church.
Philomena was an avid bowler her entire life, often bowling twice or more per week. She was still bowling at 102 up to only a month before her passing. People loved to see her making strikes and picking up spares and many commented on how it gave them inspiration that even in your senior years, you can still live an active life.
Surviving are three sons, Richard “Rocco” Cefalo (Beverly), Stephen Cefalo(Patricia), Thomas “Tom” Cefalo (Sei); a brother, John Magno; five grandchildren, Michelle, Dana, Andrea, Erica, Steve; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, in the Shepherd Assembly Church, 6720 Old Shallotte Road, NW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.
