Paul William “Bill” Smeltz, 82, of Carolina Shores, NC previously of Pasadena, MD passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the Brunswick Health & Rehabilitation Center, Ash, NC following a brief illness.
Born in Alliance, OH, on March 20, 1942, Bill was a son of the late William Edward and Mary Jane Pikulik Smeltz. Bill was a retired computer technician and was a proud US Navy veteran. After retiring he enjoyed the Baltimore Orioles so much that he got a job as an usher for 21 years. He was also known around the community as Mr. Bill the helper, he would help anyone with anything that needed to be done.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Mae Smeltz; daughter Lisa Hagerty and husband Brian; son Michael Smeltz and wife Tammy. He has 4 grandchildren Shawn Hagerty (Jeanette), Shannon Hagerty, Ryan Smeltz, and Ashley Smeltz. 2 great grandchildren Makayla Smeltz, and Asher Hagerty, Sister Judy Pailer, and brother Ronnie Ross.
He was preceded in death by son David Smeltz, and Sister Patricia Brodowsky
The family will have a graveside service with military honors, at a later date in the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032.
