Patsy Lewis Obituary

Patsy Simmons Lewis, 75, of Winnabow, NC passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care, Brunswick House, following a brief illness.

“Ms. Patsy” as she was affectionately known by so many of her friends, was born in Columbus County on August 7, 1949, to the late Levy McKinley and Delta Mae Babson Simmons. She was raised in the Ash community and attended Waccamaw School where graduated and was named Miss Waccamaw in 1967.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene L. Simmons, a granddaughter,  Jennifer M Barron, great grandson Jordan A Robbins, a great great grandson, Colton Lewis. Ms. Patsy was a people person and loved helping others which made her work as a CNA a favorite job of hers. She loved taking care of the elderly people in her care. She also worked for many years at the Dollar General in Boiling Spring Lakes where she had many friends who loved Ms. Patsy. She loved animals, especially her cats, Patches, Rowdy, Rambo & T-Tom. She enjoyed watching birds and her squirrels.

Surviving are her loving husband of 46 years, Dennis Lee Lewis, Sr,; her daughters, Lendy Ellison and husband Dale of Southport, Wanda S. Robbins and husband Gary of Winnabow, Sheila Grainger and husband Johnny of Bolivia; a son, Dennis L. Lewis “Tinky” of Supply; a sister, Cheryl Spangenberg and husband Paul; a special nephew, Michael Clewis; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2025, in the New Britton Baptist Church with The Reverend Sterling Sarvis and The Reverend Jarad Galloway officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A time of visitation with the family will be from 1:30 until 2:00 pm on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Dale Ellison, Gary Robbins, Adrian Phelps, Jousha Robbins, Jeremy Robbins, Douglas Estes, Elliott Estes, and Anthony Hickman.
