Michael Dean Woolard, Sr., 63, of Sunset Beach, NC passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, in Autumn Care of Shallotte, following a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

Michael was born in Rocky Mount, NC on March 16, 1961, and was a son of the late James Ashley Woolard and Alma Jones Oglesby.

He was a proud United States Marine Corp veteran and an HVAC contractor. He was a member of the Shallotte Masonic Lodge, # 727 AF&AM.

Surviving are his wife, Sherri Balkcum of the home; Brothers Jimmy Woolard (wife Debbie); Bill Woolard (wife Donna), and Steve Woolard (wife Denice), Daughter Alma Michelle Woolard; Sons Michael Dean Woolard Jr (wife Stephanie), James Dean Woolard, and Kevin Joseph Smith (wife Toshanna).

Grandchildren Alayna, Genna, Brandon, Cameron, Chloe, Scarlett, and Remington.

Michael is also survived by a tribe of friends that he considered family and two cats (Bonita and Catfish) that he cherished.

Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date.
