Michael Updyke Goff

Michael J. Updyke Goff, 70, of Ash, NC passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in the Brunswick Health & Rehab facility, Ash, NC.

Mike was born in Arlington, VA on September 10, 1955, and was a son of the late Harold and Joanne Johnson Goff. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by brothers David Goff, and Mark Goff.

Mike enjoyed bowling, fishing playing chess and football, his favorite team was New York Giants. He loved to eat his favorite food which was fish and chips and lasagna. Anyone who met Mike would know after 5 min. He was Frankie Valli‘s number one fan and they actually played Frankie Valli music during his surgery and all the way in the ambulance from Myrtle Beach to Charleston he knew all of the Frankie Valli songs by heart and would sing them to you. He went to three Frankie Valli concerts which included Frankie Valli’s very last concert in February of 2025.  The last two years of his life, he was at Brunswick Health and Rehab Center on Schoolhouse Road in Ash, NC. I think it’s very important to say that most people would complain about being in a nursing home. Mike absolutely loved it there. He had friends, and girlfriends. He played cornhole, went to dinners, went bowling, went to Walmart, and the care he received there was way beyond excellent. Mike was a very stoic and a very happy person who loved people and people loved him. He will be deeply missed by many.

Surviving are a sister, Carol Goff and husband Michael; and sister-in-law, Kathy Goff and husband Will Long his longtime caregivers.

Graveside services will be private in the Long Family Cemetery, Ash, NC.
