Michael Joseph “The Hawk” Bolger, 78, of Sunset Beach, NC passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 following a decline in health after battling for months to recover from a stroke.
Born in Germantown, PA, Michael was one of six children born to the late Joseph “Joe”and Kathleen “Kas” Bolger. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by a sister Joan Barrett, two brothers, Larry Bolger, and Arthur “Artie” Bolger.
Michael was a three sport athlete at Malvern Prep High School in Pennsylvania. He was a proud United States Marine Corp veteran and served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation among others. After a career in the hospitality industry, he moved from Richmond, VA to Sunset Beach, NC to retire by the ocean.
Surviving are his son, Sean Bolger; Sean’s mother, Julia Bolger; and two sisters Virginia Bolger and Mary Bolger.
A celebration of life service will be announced here at a later date.
