Mary Jean (Meuler) Stilling

Mary Jean Stilling, 89, of Oak Island, NC passed away on the morning of Monday, August 7, 2023 in her home with family by her side.

Jean was born in Oconomowoc, WI to the late Hugo and Vera Daggy Meuler. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Daniel Frederick Stilling.

Together they lived in Illinois, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. Their final move was to Oak Island in 1989 where they put down their permanent roots. Jean retired from the banking industry and once settled in Oak Island, became active in her new community by singing with the Sea Notes choral ensemble for many years.  She also volunteered with the Brunswick County Hope Chest where she made several life long friends.

Survivors include her three daughters, Stephanie Stone (Gary), Kari Nixon (Mark) and Beth Stilling; a brother, Dick Meuler; a sister, Pat Van Valkenburg; four grandchildren, Erin, Taylor, Kelsey and Elias; and four great grandchildren, Bentley, Luke, Whitaker and Sophie.

“We would like to give special thanks to the Lower Cape Fear Life Care hospice group for the special love and care given to Momma over the last six months.  Christina, Denice and Rebecca, you are all angels on earth.”

To adhere to her wishes, local services will be private.
