Mary Ellen (Esslinger) Nigro

Mary Ellen Nigro, 66, of Calabash, NC, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at her home with her loving family at her bedside.

Mary was born in Forest Hills, New York, on November 12, 1958, to the late Thomas and Helen Kendell Esslinger. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Morris-Zieniewicz.

Surviving are her life partner, Bill Canning; a son, John “JR” Nigro; a daughter, Lisa Koenig and husband Matt; siblings, Jean, Patty, Carol, Margaret, Ann, Kathleen, John and Eddy; she also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Katie, Maddie, Rylee Shea, Ryan James; and many special nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
