Mary Joan Levasseur, age 77, of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC, passed away on Friday, the seventh of May 2021 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Jersey City, NJ on the twenty eighth of June 1943 to the late Jasper Arlington Griffin and Mrs. Yvette Wilson Griffin of Brunswick, ME.
Mary was retired from Sears Roebuck & Company after over twenty five years of service. She was an active member of Closer Walk United Methodist Church in Leland, NC. Mary was a modest yet classy lady with a welcoming smile who was deeply devoted to her family, faith, and church. She was an avid prayer warrior to all. Besides her many church activities, she was an accomplished gardener and she and her husband Henry created a beautiful home and garden. She was also a past member of Trinity United Methodist Church. While there, she established a Prayer Room and belonged to Stephen Ministry.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband Henry M. Levasseur children, Tammy Chadbourne and husband Joey of Southington, CT, Gayle DeCaro and husband John of Roanoke, TX, Kimberly Radke of Boiling Spring Lakes, Daniel Levasseur and wife Heidi of King George, VA; sisters, Barbara Voisine and husband Rod of Windham, ME, Theresa Rossi and husband Kenneth of Jensen Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jesse Chadbourne, Nicki Roy, Brianna Ring, Emily Levasseur, Raymond DeCaro, Alicia DeCaro, Chelsey DeCaro; great grandchildren, Jolie, Lily, Levon, Jude, Elias and one soon to be “Mary”, due in June. In addition, she leaves behind many loving friends.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, the 5th of June 2021 in the Closer Walk United Methodist Church, 117-C Village Road, NE, Leland, NC with the Pastor Curtis Campbell and the Pastor Skip Williams officiating.
