Marie B. (Gys) Meehan

Marie “Rie” B. Meehan, 79, of Bolivia, NC (Winding River), passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, following a time of declining health.

“Rie” as she was affectionately known, was born in Englewood, NJ on September 22, 1944, and was one of two children born to the late Emil and Matilda Gedon Gys. Rie’s brother, Louis Gys predeceased her.

She was a retired office manager and worked for her husband’s practice.  

Surviving are her loving husband and soulmate of fifty-eight years, James “Jim” S. Meehan, III; a son, Sean Meehan; and a daughter, Kellie Kenning and husband Scott; three grandchildren, Nicholas Kenning, Zachary Kenning, Kieran Meehan.

To honor Rie’s wishes, a private gathering of family will be held at a later date.
