Margaret Jean Harris, 89, died March 22, 2024, with her family by her side in Ocean Isle, NC.
Margaret Jean Moore was born on October 21,1934 in Rocky Mt., NC to Luther Lee and Katie
Moore. She had three Sisters: Ina Ezzell, Phyllis Perry, Lottie Hedgepeth and two brothers, Billy
and Henry Moore who preceded her in death.
She attended Rocky Mt. High School where she was a Majorette. In 1953, Margaret married the
love of her life, Hollis B. Harris, Jr., and they resided in Washington DC. Together, they would
spend nearly 60 years side by side with their children and families. Margaret relocated to
Fayetteville, NC with her husband and three children in 1968. She was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her
husband, Hollis B. Harris, Jr.
Margaret Jean is survived by her children, Victoria J. Hill, Hollis Lee Harris and spouse, Lisa,
Steven D. Harris and spouse, Nancy; a brother, Ralph Poe and spouse Mary; grandchildren, Katie E. Evans, John W. Long, Jr. and spouse,
Tara, Jordan Campbell and spouse, Eric, Aimee Flynn, Serenity Caison and spouse, Ritchie, Sam
Harris, Taylor Harris, Aleashia N. Bice and spouse, Bradley, Bobby L. Harris and spouse,
Samantha; numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Margaret Jean Harris will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her contagious laugh,
her fiery spirit and the best potato salad in all the land.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned and will be announced here when complete.
