Marcus John Thompson, 78, of Supply, NC passed away on Wednesday the twenty ninth of September 2021 after a lengthy illness.
Marcus was born in Horry County, SC on August the fourth 1943 to the late Marcus Alton and Florence Orian Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Sowell and a brother, John Smith. Marcus was a proud US Army veteran where he served during Vietnam and was in the Seventh Special Forces Group, (Green Beret), stationed in Ft Bragg, NC. He was also a member of the Shallotte Masonic Lodge, 727 AF & AM and was a longtime member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Supply, NC.
Surviving are his best friend, Patricia Skinner; a son, Trooper Christopher Thompson (Sara) of Supply; two daughters, Crystal T. Brogan and Charity Barfield both of Supply; grandchildren, Mitchell Barfield, Juliana Barfield, Randall Warren; one great-grandchild, Noa Barfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the second of October 2021 in the Sharon United Methodist Church with The Reverend Jim Pegan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
