Marcia Mary (Grella) Ring

Marcia Mary Ring, 82, of Southport, NC (St James Community) passed away peacefully on
Friday, March 20, 2026, surrounded by her family. Following a long journey with dementia,
she serenely transitioned from her home into eternal rest.
Marcia “Marcy” was born May 1943 in Roslyn, NY; a daughter of the late Marchie and
Stephanie Andrazek Grella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, James Michael Ring, daughter-in-law Kristen Corbin Ring, sister Anna
DiRienzo, in-laws James Patrick and Ann Zasadzinski Ring, sister-in-law Mary Orcutt,
and her beloved nephews Michael Grella, and Matthew Oliveri.
Marcy was devoted to her faith, family, and friends. She was the matriarch of her family, and
always there to lend support. Marcy was a member of the Ladies Guild at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, and a longtime volunteer at Ocean Trail Nursing Home, where she used
her jocular personality to fill every room with laughter. Marcy lives on in the hearts of family
and friends; she never minced words nor knew a stranger. She will be deeply missed, as
Marcy was genuinely one of a kind.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, James Joseph Ring, Michele Ring, Allison Ring
Covey and husband Brandon; a brother, Robert Grella and wife Barbara; a sister, Noreen Grella;
grandchildren Christian Ring Häggblom, and John Constantine Covey; along with numerous
in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass, followed by the inurnment, will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, at 1:00
PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Southport, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for
donations in her name to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Cure
Alzheimer’s Fund.
