Lynda Gail Babson, 68, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her home.
Lynda was born in Columbus County, NC on March 17, 1955 to the late James Bryant and Sudie Mae Griffin Babson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Silas Warren Babson, Jerry Babson, Martha Dean Fowler, James Ogal Babson, Betty Jane Smith, Jackie Lane Babson, and Rebecca Ann Long.
Lynda was born with the spirit of an explorer, a heart of a warrior and eyes so beautiful and green that they would make a leprechaun cry. At the tender age of 18, Lynda turned that beautiful gaze across the country to California where dreams are made. There she grew her love of the beach , music and adventure.
Lynda was an artist in many regards . An artist of making one dollar stretch until it was as if she had $20. A culinary artist, making meals that melted in your mouth, leaving people craving more even years later. Lastly, a talented artist of the page. Lynda was always thankful for even the most humble of blessings.
Lynda perfected all of these artistic skills, and later gave birth to three children. She instilled in her children kindness, work ethics and how to do the right thing even if others do not.
Lynda’s warrior heart enabled her slay to illnesses as if a knight in battle. She survived breast cancer, two heart attacks and multiple strokes. She had chronic back pain and other difficulties, but that did not stop her from getting down on the ground and playing with her grandbabies.
Lynda loved a good crossword puzzle, music of all kinds ,long walks and a good party . Rarely did she meet a British drama that she didn’t love. She never forgot a birthday, would only shed a tear if her loved ones were hurt, and understood what it truly meant to be family.
Lynda is survived by her children, Xanthyne Calhoun, Joshua McCartney ,Erin McCartney. Her three brothers, Steve Babson (Debbie), Willie Babson, Richard Babson (Teresa); And the lights of her life her grandbabies: Persephone Zenick, Eden McCartney, Riley and Mandolin McNalley
A party celebrating Lynda’s life will be held on June 3, 2023 for family and close friends with details to follow. Lynda Babson may your memory be a blessing.
