Linda Lee Phelps, born on March 4, 1943, was the cherished and only child of Herman and Louise Atkinson Phelps. She departed from this earthly realm on January 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, selflessness, and boundless love.
Linda's educational journey led her through Shallotte High School, Meriden Hospital School of Nursing, and the Family Nurse Practitioner program at UNC Chapel Hill, NC. With a career spanning forty-four years, thirty-four of which were dedicated to serving as a Nurse Practitioner, Linda touched countless lives with her expertise and empathy.
Renowned for her unwavering dedication to assisting others regardless of background or circumstance, Linda embodied the true spirit of altruism. Her greatest joy stemmed from selflessly giving to others, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Linda found immense pleasure in her culinary talents, delighting in sharing meals with her family and friends. Despite facing physical challenges later in life, Linda never hesitated to extend a helping hand, exemplifying her remarkable resilience and generosity of spirit.
A devoted animal lover, Linda found solace and companionship in her beloved dachshunds named Beckett who brought her immeasurable joy throughout the years.
Linda's faith was a cornerstone of her life, as she was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Wilmington. Her unwavering commitment to Christ and her compassionate beliefs guided her every action.
Linda leaves behind several cousins, a niece, and numerous cherished friends, each touched by her kindness and grace. In honoring her memory, Linda expressed her deepest desire for a scholarship to be established for nursing students at Brunswick Community College, a testament to her enduring passion for nurturing future healthcare professionals.
Though Linda may have departed from our midst, her spirit will continue to illuminate the lives of all who were privileged to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, her legacy of love and service forever cherished in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on January 31, 2024, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC with a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Prospect Baptist Church, Supply, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society or the Boys and Girls Home at Lake Waccamaw.
Forever remembered, forever loved, Linda Lee Phelps will remain a beacon of light and inspiration for generations to come.
