Kathleen “Kathy” Mary Lesko, 68, formally of Hillsbrough, NJ and retired to Leland, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, “Brunswick House” following a time of declining health.
Kathy was born on August 4, 1955 in Jersey City, NJ and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine McHale Diaz. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Diaz, Jr.
Kathy was a retired Executive Assistant where she spent most of her career at AT&T/Lucent for over 35 years and then Baker and Taylor for over 10 years.
Kathy had a passion for travel and traveled the world in her career. She shared this passion with her husband.
She also was an avid photographer and had a keen eye for flowers especially orchids, architecture and antiques. She volunteered her time at Duke Estate in NJ and Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC.
She enjoyed spending time with her dogs, watching sports on TV, Broadway shows, thrift shopping, music, shopping at Wegmans and going to the orchard shows.
Most of all Kathy enjoyed having a cup of coffee and conversation with friends of Bill W. She touched many people and selflessly gave of herself. Kathy was an example to many and will be sorely missed.
Surviving are her loving husband Kenny and her two dogs Cruz and Diego; brother Bob Diaz and wife Lynn; sister-in-law Judy Diaz; brother-in-law Rick Lesko and wife Debbie; sister-in-law Cindy (Lesko) Porter and husband Bart; nieces and nephews, Christopher Diaz, Jeffrey Diaz, John Lesko, Alyssa Porter, Jenna (Porter) Smith and great nieces and nephew, Piper Diaz, Addison and Bennett Smith.
Celebration of life will be April 28, 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Brunswick Forest Community Commons, 2701 Brunswick Forest Parkway, Leland, NC.
NJ celebration of life will be scheduled for late May.
