Karen Jeanne (Jaeger) Dunbar

Karen Jeanne Dunbar, 68, of Sunset Beach, NC passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at her home with her loving husband by her side.

Born in Rockville Center, NY, Karen was a daughter of the late Roy Jaeger, Sr. and Madeleine Gurke Jaeger. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a nephew, Mark Russell and brother-in-law, Karl Dunbar.

Karen was raised in Wantagh, NY. Karen had an athletic side to her where in high school she lettered in Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball at Douglas MacArthur High School. Karen then worked for the Estee Lauder Company for 42 years. She was an accomplished cook, baker, seamstress and an avid golfer.

Surviving are her husband and soulmate of forty-four years, Paul Alexander Dunbar; a brother, Pastor Roy Jaeger, Jr and wife Cheri; two sisters, Laura Schwier and husband Ray, Carleen Russell and husband John; a brother-in-law, Peter Dunbar and wife Winnie; nieces and nephews, Heather Russell, Sabrina Schwier, Matt Schwier, Phillip Dunbar, Thomas Dunbar, Scott Dunbar, Jennifer Dunbar, Ashley Dunbar, Katelyn Dunbar; and a great niece, Grace Russell.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in the Shepherd Assembly Church, 6720 Old Shallotte Road, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469 with Pastor Roy Jaeger, Jr. officiating.

The family will have a reception following the service in The Thistle Clubhouse Restaurant, 1815 Olde Thistle Club Road, Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
