Karen (Hughes) Buffkin

Karen Hughes Buffkin, 65, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in Premier Care of Lake Waccamaw.

Karen was born on July 14, 1960, in Horry County, SC and was one of two daughters of the late Luther Devon “Tink” Hughes and Christine Horne Hughes. She was also predeceased by a son, Bradley Buffkin, a grandchild, Nathan Buffkin, and her sister, Tina H. Floyd and the father of her children, William Dale Buffkin.

Karen was a lady with a huge personality and was loved by so many friends and extended family. Her laughter and warm smile will be fondly remembered by many family and friends.

Surviving are a beloved daughter, Pamela Michelle Buffkin Cumbie (Steven); grandchildren, Drake Benton, Zoey Benton, Destiny Buffkin, Braxton Buffkin, and a special friend, Brenda Simmons.  

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Two O’clock in the afternoon in the Thomasboro Freewill Baptist Church with The Reverend Larry Ward officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
