Karen W. Brown, 69, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington, NC. Karen was born in Queens, New York on December 15, 1954, and was one of three daughters born to Edward and Nancy Gallagher Wagner.
Karen was an ambassador for The International Art Materials Association (NAMTA) for over twenty-one years. In the office, Karen was known for being both entertaining and kind-hearted, but also one who kept the office organized and in-check.
Karen’s greatest passion-in-life was spoiling her seven grandchildren. Her home and office are Showered with pictures of each grandchild, She was not just their grandmother, but a best friend to them. She was warm, playful, and carried a child-like personality that will never be forgotten.
Surviving are her Partner, Joseph Fontanella of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Sale (Austin), Andrea Tews; two sisters, Ellen Wagner, Marilyn Schwartz; grandchildren, Natalie Sale, Ally Sale, Anne Marie Tews, Selah Tews, Erin Tews, Adam Tews, Noah Tews; Joseph’s granddaughter, Alexandra, and two of her best friends, Babs Gregory and Mary Jane Rosenthal. Karen is also survived by Edward Wagner’s loving wife, Laraine Wagner and her daughter Denise Spoto.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 19th at NorthStone Country Club in Huntersville, NC at 1:00 p.m.
