With hearts full of gratitude for her life, yet heavy with sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Julia Susan Ciampanella Garrett, on April 10, 2026, at the age of 64. A woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, compassion and love, she left her mark on everyone she met.
Raised in Roderfield, WV by her parents, Alfred and Regina Ciampanella, she found Roxboro, NC to call her home. She is survived by her daughter Paige Sharp (Elliott) and grandchildren Ean and Ella of Stokesdale, NC, as well as her son Matthew Garrett of Roxboro, NC and his fiancée Jessica Knight and son Noah of Supply, NC. She shared her life with Harris Vazquez and their 3 dogs, Max, Zoey and Bandit.
Additional surviving family include her siblings Freddy Ciampanella (Pam) of Big Sandy, WV, Teresa Hutchinson of Roxboro, NC & Ray Ciampanella of Bluefield, WV as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and their children.
She worked for many years at Person Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse, disinclined to retire, she had to leave her true passion of caring for others behind due to medical reasons.
She was a devoted mother and daughter, a doting grandmother; and a friend to many. She enjoyed many things in life including crafting, scrapbooking, gardening, cooking, fishing, and traveling, especially to the beach. She taught us so much and we are thankful that God choose her to be our mother and allowed her to be an active part of our lives. She will be greatly missed by many.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at Holden Beach, NC on May 16, 2026.
