Joseph Malterer John "Jobe" Bode

Dr. Joseph Malterer John "Jobe" Bode, of Bolivia, NC, died in New Hanover Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Dec 8, 2021  at the age of 77. He was born in Baltimore, MD on Sept 8, 1944 to the late John Joseph Malterer Bode and Catherine Lane Bode, and is survived by his wife, Harriette White Bode, his daughter, Catherine Bode, and son-in-law Michael Kafka.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis White Edwards, her husband Fred (Ed) G Edwards, and their children, W Brett Edwards (Tammy Philips Edwards) and Leah Edwards Garland (Will Garland).

Dr. Bode earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina after graduating from Villanova University. He began his career teaching at Arizona State University and George Mason University, before transitioning to business at the Center for Naval Analysis, Ernest & Young (Arthur Young), Booz Allen Hamilton, Firestone, Revco Drug Stores, and Black and Decker, starting JJB Consultants, and then returning to teaching at George Washington University's business school. In his spare time, he loved cycling and fishing.
