In the early hours on the morning of July 7th, 2025, Jeffrey L. Bell passed away at the age of 61 after a year long battle with ALS. Born on May 7th, 1964, in Burlington, NC to James W. Bell Jr. (father) and Carolyn Gibson Bell (mother), Jeff Bell was a man who impacted the world in so many ways.
From his career as a sound engineer for bands and musicians across America, he got to travel to many different places, to which he would have stories for each and every one. During his time as a sound engineer, he got to see many different places, but his heart always led him back to Mebane (which, as he would remind people, rhymes with Heaven). After relocating to Southport, NC, Jeff found another fulfilling role working at the Leland Cultural Arts Center for the Town of Leland, where he had developed a great community of coworkers and friends.
Jeff was an avid sports fan as well. He loved UNC basketball, NASCAR racing, Carolina Panthers football (despite recent years, he still supported them) and tennis, regardless of the tournament. He loved talking about various stats pertaining to all his favorite sports.
Most of all, Jeff Bell loved his family. Jeff is survived by his mother, Carolyn Bell, to whom he was a loyal son, his partner, Kathleen Horton, to whom he had an unwavering devotion for, and his daughter, Brittany Bell, to whom he had a love greater than any words could ever express. Jeff loved being a father and often considered it his greatest accomplishment. He filled a part of that role for Kathy’s two sons, to which he showed support towards. He is also survived by his brothers, Greg Bell (Suzan), Mike Bell, and nephews.
Despite the occasional stubborn moments, Jeff was always the gentlest of giants. His love always showed in his actions, and those actions were from a kind and caring heart. His presence is one that will be cherished and sorely missed, but as Jeff Bell always said, all roads lead to Mebane (Heaven).
For anyone wishing to pay their respects, the family will be receiving visitors on Saturday, July 26th at McClure Funeral Services (1308 S Third St, Mebane, NC 27302) from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A celebration of life for Jeff Bell will take place at a later date.
If desired, the family is requesting any donations in honor of Jeff Bell be sent to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick County (www.ncsecufoundation.org). The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful and thoughtful care they provided.
Online condolences are encouraged and may be sent to www.fulwoodfuneralservice.com.
