James “Jim” Irving Park, age 85, of Sunset Beach, NC, and formerly of Northbay, NY, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 in the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, “Brunswick House”, Bolivia, NC following a time of declining health.
Jim was born on January 4, 1940, in Ithaca, NY. He was the son of the late, Roland and Elizabeth Lintall Park; and due to her death, he was raised by his stepmother, Beatrice . In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Bradley, in 2008.
He graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School District, Star Lake, NY, Class of 1959. He later began his sales career with Wonder Bread, Syracuse, NY, in 1962 as a route salesman and advanced to a supervisor in Syracuse and later to branch sales manager, in Clifton Park, NY in 1978. After moving to Albany, NY he was instrumental in establishing Wonder Bread to that market. He later worked for Interstate Bread and Best Foods, Baking Division, as a district sales manager in the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts for a total of 28 years in the baking industry. Jim worked at Frito-Lay in Central, NY, the regional office in Syracuse, NY, where he assisted management and route sales. He retired from Frito-Lay in 2007. Jim sincerely enjoyed the people and friendships made throughout his career.
He attended the Presbyterian Church in Whitelaw, NY, and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and held the position of First Vice President Commander of Post 858 in Cleveland, NY. Jim and his wife Roberta moved to Sunset Beach, NC in 2019, where he joined the Calabash American Legion Post 503 and served as SAL Commander until he became ill.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Roberta Wilson Park whom he married on July 7, 2012; two sons, Michael Park (Darcey), Christopher Park; two grandchildren, Avery and Evan; three stepchildren, Christina Staubi (John), John Wilson (Anne), Drew Wilson (Karen); twin brothers, Jess Park (Sue), John Park (Barb); ten more grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
