James "Jim" Albert Capicotto

James “Jim” Albert Capicotto, 79, of Calabash, NC passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, August 13, 2024, with loved ones by his side.

Jim was born in St. Lukes Hospital, Newburgh, New York on January 9, 1945, and was the son of the late James and Betty Ciminelli Capicotto.

Jim attended Newburgh Free Academy, class of 1963, and the RCA Institutes. He was also a proud US Navy Reserves veteran. He retired from ShopRite Grocery Stores as a store manager and then worked at Home Depot as a district manager.  Jim loved ham radio and was a past president of the Mt. Beacon Ham Radio Club, and member of the Cornwall Ham Radio Club and the Orange County Ham Radio Club. He was also a pilot and was especially proud of his Private Pilot’s License and loved to be in the air. After moving to North Carolina with the love of his life, Joyce Klein, he was instrumental in the development of the Calabash Emergency Management System.

Surviving are his Life Partner, Joyce Klein; a sister, Veronica Oehme and brother in law Lee of Bolivia, NC; a son, Darren Capicotto of Newburgh, NY; nephew, Jeff Oehme of Monroe, NY and niece, Melissa Exposito, Franklin, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 Am, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in the St Brendan's Catholic Church, Shallotte, NC.

He will be laid to rest in the Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
