Howard "Bill" Lindsay Obituary

Howard William “Bill” Lindsay, 83, of Shallotte, NC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2025, following a time of declining health.

Bill, as he was affectionately known, was born in Sunbury, PA on October 6, 1942, and was a son of the late Robert and Myrtle Barnett Lindsay. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Lindsay and sister-in-law Trea, a sister, Dorothy Waldorf and brother-in-law Bill Waldorf, and a brothers-in-law, Ben Caldwell, Don Williams, Frank Cagle, Bill Uebele and Chris Kelley.

Bill was a proud US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam war. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal and qualified as an expert rifleman. He retired from the US Postal Service, after serving 33 years, were he served as a window clerk and was a longtime member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.  Bill’s favorite pastimes was listening to his music from the 50’s & 60’s eras, playing golf and attending sports games.

Surviving are his loving and adoring wife of 59 years, MaryAnn Kelley Lindsay; a brother, Donnie Lindsay, and wife Donna; four sisters, Jean Caldwell, Patsy Garrison and Husband Gus, Mary Williams, Dana Cagle; two brothers-in-law, Tom Kelley, Richard Kelley and wife Jean; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Uebele, and many nieces and nephews.

You are invited to a time of visitation from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Parrish Hall of St. Brendan Catholic Church, 5105 Ocean Highway, West, Shallotte, NC 28470.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday in St. Brendan Catholic Church. A private inurnment with military honors will be held at a later date.
