Herbert Woodhouse Taylor, age 90, of Bolivia, NC, formerly of Wilkesboro, NC and Covington, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at his home with his family at his bedside.
Herbert, or “Herb” as he was affectionately known, was born in Westwood, New Jersey on January 5, 1935. He was the fourth son of the late Richard and Elisabeth Sconce Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Susan Kelsey Taylor in 2021 and his brothers Bob, Jamie, Dick and Jim.
Surviving are daughter Jennifer T. Gibby (Jeff) of Bolivia NC; sons Jonathan S. Taylor (Beth) of Rochester Hills MI, and William D. Taylor (Elanna) of Woodstock MD; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sister Jane Lampman (Walt) of Earlton, NY; and honorary daughter Angila Thornton (Donnie).
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to special caregivers Marlene Lively, Shari Vetrano, and Donna Roberts, and to the hospice team at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Bolivia, NC.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Bolivia, NC.
