George R. Conley passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at home.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Mary Ruth (Derbyshire) Conley. George was raised in the Port Schuyler section of Watervliet and was a veteran of the United States Navy, receiving a Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and serving from 1961 until 1963. He is survived by his siblings Bob (Pat) Conley, Sandy (Mike) Tommaney, Tom (Diane) Conley, Kevin (Cindy) Conley, and Tim (Sandra) Conley, his brother-in-law William Lorenz, sister-in-law Marta Conley and sister-in-law Mary Anne Conley. George is also survived by his "North Carolina" family: Kristin (Matt) Ferriter, Scott (Amy) Conley, MaryBeth (Bruce) Barnatones, their children, and many more nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his sister Beverly, brothers Frank and Richard, sister-in-law Arlene, sister-in-law Laurie and nephews Larry and Michael.
For several years, George served both as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and emergency medical technician for Riverside Ambulance of Menands, NY. He was a long-time member of the Calabash Elks Lodge #2679 and of American Legion Post 503.
A private gathering will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands NY at a later date.
