Fred Chancy McKeithan, age 77, of Shallotte, NC, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Centers “Brunswick House” following a time of declining health.
Fred was a proud US Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was a longtime employee of Shallotte Electric Stores and retired in 2011.
Fred was born in Bolivia, NC on September 5, 1946, and was a son of the late John Crandle and Rachel Ann Little McKeithan. Fred was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dale Yokeley, Sr.; his siblings, Jesse Porter McKeithan (Sue), Ellis Chesley McKeithan, Burgwyn Armlan “Mac” McKeithan (Peggy), Janie Gertrude M. Simmons (Wilbur Ray), June M Stafford (Bobby Lee), Shirley Ann McKeithan James (Charlie).
Fred was devoted to his family and will be forever loved, adored, and missed by his beloved family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Fay Gunnell McKeithan of Shallotte; their daughter, Charity Dawn McKeithan Ladson (B.J.); a daughter-in-law, Francie Yokeley; grandchildren, Michael Dale Yokeley, Jr., Rebekah Dayle, and Austin Maddoux Ladson.
